‘Likey’ wasn’t often referenced on ‘The Young and the Restless’ this year. Lauren (Tracey Bregman) and Michael (Christian LeBlanc) weren’t often seen as a duo since Michael’s cancer scare. But Genoa City fans have welcomed the reintroduction of this likeable pair as 2016 gets set to yawn.
Fenmore’s is in financial trouble. It appears as though Lauren’s old-school approach has been stymied by modern tastes. Her lack of a driving online presence appears to be directly affecting sales this year. Jill (Jess Walton) caught wind of her sister’s plight and that should help to change Lauren’s business dynamic eventually.

Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) was nicely woven into this building arc when Lauren solicited her technological input. As long-time fans recall, Phyllis (then played by Michelle Stafford) and Michael go way back to the days of Danny (Michael Damian) and ‘The Bug’, aka ‘Cricket’, okay the character being referenced is Christine (Lauralee Bell). Interesting potential exists in reigniting the Phyllis-Christine war, but that’s another story for another digital day.
It appears likely that the now-blonde Phyllis will go from Jabot, a cheeky play on the Jabot Go app plot point, and begin working for Lauren at Fenmore’s. Linking the former Mrs. Abbott to Lauren opens a number of fictional possibilities. One of them means that Michael and his friend Phyllis will be trading friendly barbs far more often.
As for Michael, his backstory is being hilariously refreshed by the return of the great Judith Chapman (Gloria). Easily one of the more entertaining characters to be invented during the last decade, Chapman often steals each scene that she’s in. It would be nice if her husband Jeffrey (Ted Shackelford) could join his bride in Genoa City as well.
Gloria’s return also means that Kevin (Greg Rikaart) should be mixing with his older brother more often. An original extension of Michael’s backstory, Kevin’s relationship with Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) seems certain to catch Gloria’s interest.
Ideally, Fen (Max Ehrich) will also be seen sometime during Christmas and New Year’s Eve. While Ehrich has gone on to a successful career post-Y&R, he’s still shown on the soap’s website. So hopefully ‘Likey’s’ son will also come home for the holidays.
