‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Victor Faces Internet Attack – Jack Uses Unconventional Methods

Some divisions within Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) business appear to be in trouble on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Jack (Peter Bergman) apparently paid to obtain confidential information that seems to prove this fact. Then, based upon Phyllis’ (Gina Tognoni) advice, he used the the internet to launch an unconventional attack.

There were two instances in recent weeks where ‘Red’ admonished the older set about the value of employing modern methods. First, Phyllis told Ashley (Eileen Davidson) that her marketing strategies were a few decades past their prime. This week, the potentially ex-Mrs. Abbott told Jack that instead of going to Christine (Lauralee Bell) with the Newman financials that were obtained he should leak the stolen numbers through GC Buzz.

A gradual freshening of Y&R has taken place throughout 2016. There’s no doubt that executive producer Mal Young, who first joined the team in a special role before taking over for Jill Farren Phelps in June, is moving the show in a different stylistic direction. The old-school BBC producer is surely collaborating with younger minds behind the scenes, which then plays out on-screen.

Young believes that Victor and Jack remain key to Genoa City’s travails. They still represent the show’s lead male characters. Hardcore fans skew toward the actual ages of both actors. Yet, seniors and middle-aged scribes (wink) have been learning about and are using emerging technology just like the younger set. So, a bridge is being smartly gapped through Y&R’s efforts.

Jack knows that Phyllis is an asset, even though he’s serious about distancing himself from her charms. Clearly, he still loves his wife. But, her betrayal has to be dealt with. So, he’s understandably attempting to build emotional and logical barriers in attempt to avoid further pain moving forward. However, allowing her to work at Jabot is a gamble.

Phyllis may prove to be crucial in Jack’s latest attempt to stymie the ‘Moustache’. While it initially seemed as though ‘Phack’ was dead and buried, viewers must now be wondering if that super couple is through. Could a victory in business eventually lead to a reconciliation? Time will tell, or Siri will say soon.
