‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Victor Can’t Stand Nikki’s Other Son – Dylan is the Better Man By Far

Victor (Eric Braeden) has never been fond of Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) first-born son on ‘The Young and the Restless’. The fact that Dylan (Steve Burton) eventually married Sharon (Sharon Case) only served to exacerbate the ‘Black Knight’s’ feelings. But is Dylan’s white knight image an honest reflection of his true character?

This scribe will attack the question referenced above with a simple answer; Yes, Dylan is the good guy in this daytime western and Victor is undoubtedly the villain.

Mr. McAvoy served his country with honor and then returned to his soul mate (Avery, Jessica Collins) in the States.

After she departed Genoa City, Dylan then developed his friendship with Sharon into love. Victor has served his own interests for decades and behaves toward so-called loved ones in erratic ways.

Dylan has managed to stand by his wife, despite the fact that she furthered the lie that Christian (Jamie and Alister Tobias) was Sully. He recently opted to not pursue individual visitation rights in court, even though doing so would have dramatically increased (according to Michael, Christian LeBlanc) his chances to see his now-nephew.

Victor’s initial high school boy reaction to Nikki’s revelation that she had a son with Paul (Doug Davidson), years before she met the ‘Moustache’, was abhorrent. However, longtime Y&R viewers know that even when Victor left Nikki for other women he often expressed his displeasure of his then ex-wife having moved on to other adult relationships. In other words, he sees Nikki as a human possession and, in this instance, Dylan represents nothing more than her life outside of his world.

Dylan has fully supported Nikki after confirming that she was his biological life-giver. His recent disagreement with Nick about Christian is fully logical as well. So, Victor has no rational ground to stand on. Mr. ‘Ruthless’ looks down upon Nikki’s first child in his mind. In reality Dylan has been, is and remains the better man. That point is undeniable.
