‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Stitch Should Fight For Abby – Still Hope For ‘Stabby?’

Stitch (Sean Carrigan) is obviously hurting on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Abby (Melissa Ordway) convinced herself that ‘Stabby’ was finished and so it was, apparently. But, Ben isn’t the one who initiated divorce talk and he still stands as the one person who can still save this marriage.

Abby didn’t experience mature relationships in her love life before she met Ben. Long the princess and never the sage (no, that wasn’t a Kelly Sullivan character reference), the current Mrs. Rayburn was still adjusting to life with a spouse when true crisis hit.

Abby was used to her dad spoiling her rotten and men falling at her feet, for her that was the world. It wasn’t surprising that she owned seven tiaras, one for each day of the week.

To be fair, Abby has shown significant signs of growth within the last year. The genuine compassion she offered to Max (Jared Breeze), along with the support she provided to her husband when he learned his son had a tumor, were equally terrific. But it’s reasonable to wonder if the aftereffects of that situation directly impacted her decision to divorce?

As fans recall, it was revealed that Max had intentionally plotted to hurt Abby, which led to the loss of ‘Stabby’s’ child. No one can be expected to stoically respond to such a terrible outcome. However, various fictional couples and others in real life handle tragedy differently based upon combined personality traits.

Abby convinced herself that she never actually loved Ben. With that mind set in place, she then concluded that their marriage was doomed from the start. Whether either point is true remains open to debate.

Irregardless of past feelings and current beliefs, Stitch retains the ability to restore this union, or at least make another strong attempt at doing so. The fact that he impressed Abby enough to marry him originally also means that he’s capable of causing her to reflect deeply again. With that she could change her outlook and give ‘Stabby’ more time to grow. Yes, it would be nice to see this super soapy couple resolve their personal issues and make amends.
