Dylan (Steve Burton) and Sharon (Sharon Case) deserve compassion on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Nick (Joshua Morrow) should allow both people to see Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen). Doing so would be in the best interests of his child and deep down he knows that.
Christian was named in honor of the first part of his grandfather’s (Victor Newman, as played by Eric Braeden) actual name (Christian Miller). But this little boy’s moniker actually derives from Christianity, which has never been limited by the term religion.

No, in a genuine sense Christianity is the study and practice of a philosophy that strives for the betterment of humanity.
When Nick and Sage (Kelly Sullivan) chose Victor Newman’s actual first name (Christian) they may have believed it was purely a familial play. But by branding their child with the name of a leading world religion they also made a statement, whether they knew it, or not. Now Nick should try to live by one of the beliefs that Christianity teaches. He should offer consideration to his brother and sister-in-law where his son is concerned, even though they aren’t entitled to that by man-made law.
Legality isn’t morality, as so many souls have learned through the ages. So Nick isn’t obligated to do anything. It’s also understandable that he was and may remain leery of Sharon, in particular.
Beyond the rightful hurt and anger Nick is feeling toward his ex-wife, he knows that Sharon is actually a caring person. She’s always loved her children, two of whom are Nick’s and another who she initially believed was Sully. This boy’s revelation as Christian is a rather unique circumstance, as Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) recently pointed out to Nick.

So in the spirit of peace, joy and the upcoming Christmas season, why not give ‘Shylan’ initially supervised access to the boy? That type of decision would represent measured compromise, while allowing for temporary precautions to be put in place.
Nick has the ability to speak to the judge who’s currently considering ‘Shylan’s’ visitation appeal. It would be both compassionate and reasonable to allow Dylan and Sharon to have a measured amount of access to Christian as soon as possible. So, why not give that approach a try?
