Classic film devotees recognized the headline reference to the classic 1946 film ‘Tomorrow is Forever’. That cinematic gem starred Claudette Colbert, Orson Welles and George Brent. Its secret identity plot was different than the Sully storyline that’s been playing out on Y&R. But, both entertainment efforts share in the vexing issue of conflict resolution spread over an extended time line.
‘Shick’ fans don’t have to be reminded that Sharon and Nick (Joshua Morrow) were nearly remarried in 2014, when Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) burst into the church in a statement dress. Sharon wasn’t able to reclaim that once great relationship, but did find a devoted mate in Nick’s brother Dylan (Steve Burton). However, her subsequent baby deception has proven to be diabolical. She’s selfishly convinced her current husband that Sully is their child, when he’s actually Christian Newman.
Patty’s (Stacy Haiduk) threat to expose Sharon’s secret is real. Attempts to push her off won’t hold for long. Then, with however the truth is divulged, Sharon will lose her faux son, her husband, the trust of her ex-husband, who’s Noah (Robert Adamson) and Faith’s (Alyvia Alyn Lind) father and incur the wrath of the rest of the Newman family, along with her boss, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), who knows that Christian is Adam’s (formerly played by Justin Hartley) child.
Some people might honestly claim that they don’t believe Sharon is attractive. However, a strong majority wouldn’t deny that visual point. The reason why it was raised involves this character’s ability to remain resilient. It’s obviously easier to wade across the river one fell into when a steady stream of guys are always ready to come to the rescue, instead of having to swim on alone.
Benefiting from many male’s protective natures, Sharon has moved from one bear’s hug to those of others. Of course, she’s hardly the only soul to do so on this soap. But, the number of times Sharon has played the damsel in distress is rather prodigious.
Unless she decides to go against type, Sharon will continue to rationalize the Sully secret. Doing so will certainly result in the alienation of Dylan and Nick, among others, when her lies are ripped bare. Yes, some people will themselves to believe that now is all that matters while also surely knowing that tomorrow is shaped by past and current actions.
