‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Sharon Begins Spooky October – Scary Patty Plays Peekaboo

Did Sharon (Sharon Case) actually believe that her secret would stay buried forever on ‘The Young and the Restless’? Dr. Sandy Anderson (Elizabeth Bogush) and Sage (Kelly Sullivan) are both dead. So, obviously they can’t tell any tales. And, the man who Sharon thinks is Christian’s father, Nick (Joshua Morrow), doesn’t have a clue about what his ex-wife is hiding, again. However, Patty (Stacy Haiduk) has just begun playing a dangerous game of peekaboo and that changes everything.

Soap opera storylines can be quite contrived. Fan opinions have varied greatly about the effectiveness of various Y&R plots within the past few years. But, an unofficial consensus seems to currently believe that the Sully-is-really-Christian arc should be quickly written to a fitting conclusion.

Patty just happened to have been transferred to Fairview (by Paul, Doug Davidson) when Sharon decided to admit herself to that mental health facility for preventative purposes. Sharon’s choice would have been wise, if she would have chosen any other health care location in the world. But, agreeing to return to the place where newborn Faith (eventually played by Alyvia Alyn Lind) was stolen and given to Ashley (Eileen Davidson) by Adam (then played by Michael Muhney) proved to be ill-fated.

Obviously everything resolved itself where Faith was concerned in the past. But, the idea that Sharon wouldn’t have learned something from that experience and then decided to keep Sully after she confirmed that he wasn’t her son was outrageous. Patty, whose deep mental instability ruins her credibility in almost any instance, was actually trying to help Sharon when Sandy was propagating the pregnancy ruse. And, she’s also right to have contacted Sharon at this point in time.

First and foremost, Sharon should not have Christian. Secondly, Paul is Patty’s brother and Dylan (Steve Burton) is Paul’s son, which makes him Patty’s nephew. So, Patty knows that Sharon’s willful dishonestly is being used to purposefully pull the soapy wool over Dylan’s naive blue eyes.

Patty’s phone contact with and subsequent prison from Case’s character should frighten all Sharon fans. And, just imagine when Nikki (Melody Thomas) learns what her not-so-favorite multiple time daughter-in-law has pulled this time? If only Sharon would have told everyone the truth about Christian when she learned it. But, she didn’t and now Patty’s return has finally furthered this extended storyline.
