‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Romance Brewing Between Ashley Abbott And Dr. Neville?

‘The Young and The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers indicate that Ashley Abbott [Eileen Davidson] may soon have a strange new love interest in her life – Dr Simon Neville [Michael E Knight]. If the two do get romantic, as Y&R spoilers tease, there are some definite pluses to the pairing.

First, if Simon grows close to Ashley, he’ll have even more incentive to work hard at his research. How many chances will he get to have someone that hot and wealthy interested in him? If Neville can save her life, maybe he can keep her.

Second, Ashley getting closer to Simon means she’ll have a distraction from thinking about her sexy son-in-law Stitch Rayburn [Sean Carrigan]. Since he and Abby Newman [Melissa Ordway] just got married, it would be better if Ashley keeps her distance from Stitch.

Third, if Ashley begins to like Simon, she will want to spend more time with him working in the lab. More time in the lab means more time devoted to solving her medical problem which increases the chance they can find an answer to save her.

Fourth, Simon is unlike any other man Ashley has been involved with – sure he’s strange and a little bit of a mad scientist but he’s not an evil corporate lord like Victor Newman [Eric Braeden] or someone else’s hubby like Stitch.

Finally, if Simon and Ashley couple up, that means TPTB can keep Simon in Genoa City indefinitely. He’s exactly what Y&R needs – new blood that’s not an Abbott, Newman, prior romantic partner or spouse of an Abbott or Newman, and outside of that two-family sphere of influence.

And let’s not forget, Dr Neville is a medical genius who loves working in the lab and Ashley is a chemist who loves working in the lab. They have a lot in common. Neville would be a perfect anti-hero sort of guy for Ashley.

Simon is not terribly handsome, he’s not wealthy, and he’s not powerful. But he’s quirky, sarcastic, smart as heck, and age-appropriate for Ashley. Plus he’s not married to her daughter, so that’s a huge plus. And they could have a great smush name – Ashville or SimAsh or Simley.
