Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) recently wiggled his way out of trouble on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Instead of being disbarred for throwing Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) case, he was given a timeout by the legal review board, was later reinstatement and continues practicing. But, Adam’s (Justin Hartley) latest situation will test the limits of what this attorney can accomplish. Just when it seemed like Michael would be able to free his client from prison, Adam attacked a prison guard.
The evidence is against Adam in this new instance. He beat up a Walworth correctional employee, plain and simple. Michael is encouraging him to plead not guilty by reason of insanity. But, Adam wouldn’t be set free if that ploy works. Assuming a judge buys Michael’s pitch, which is a stretch, Victor Junior would still be deemed unstable on ‘The Young and the Restless’.

So, either Adam will be punished for his vicious assault, or he’ll be diagnosed as unbalanced. That medical conclusion would likely result in him being remanded to a mental health facility for an extended period of time. That outcome wouldn’t be as bad as living inside Walworth’s walls, but it would still keep him separated from Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Connor (Gunner and Ryder Gadbois).
If the prison guard dies, as the result of the injuries Adam inflicted, Michael would be arguing against a murder charge. That outcome would keep Adam behind bars for an undetermined period of time just after Sage’s (Kelly Sullivan) diary pages were found. Said evidence in that case, was the proof needed to exonerate Adam.

Loyal viewers of ‘The Young and the Restless’ know that Michael is the most creatively clever barrister in Genoa City. He’s helped many innocent, and guilty, people resolve their legal problems through the years. But, this attorney, like all others, has his limits. No one should expect him to work miracles when the man in question is truly guilty, regardless of his hallucinations. Adam is responsible for his actions and must face legal consequences for whatever crime(s) he committed. Of course, those assault scenes could have been part of an extended dream, as this is soap. If that’s the trick, Adam will be freed.
