‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Hilary Acts Impulsively – GC Buzz Ratings Bump

Hilary (Mishael Morgan) is drawn to controversy on ‘The Young and the Restless’. After trying Devon’s (Bryton James) suggested approach, Hilary abandoned ethical journalism. Then, based upon the advice of an underling, she used unverified materials to question the financial stability of Newman Enterprises.

Devon has made mistakes in recent years. But, many of them have involved Hilary. Here’s a decent guy who didn’t allow an impoverished childhood, or a since-solved hearing problem, to jade his view of the world. Proving that good guys win, he was adopted by a solid man (Neil, Kristoff St. John) and eventually learned that Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) was his grandmother. That genetic link, through Tucker McCall (Stephen Nichols, who left Y&R in 2013 and returned to the role of Patch on ‘Days of Our Lives’ in 2015), proved to be a personal and financial Godsend.

Recently, the ‘Grand Dame’s’ grandson used a small portion of his inheritance to purchase GC Buzz. He did so when that website refused to back off a story about Jack (Peter Bergman), Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Billy (Jason Thompson). Devon’s intention was to transform the site into a more traditional journalistic enterprise.

The choice of Mrs. Hamilton as his lead reporter made sense in some ways. Hilary is smart, energetic and highly attractive. But, Devon knew that his wife has an erratic history where self-control is concerned. So, it should have been no surprise when Hilary Curtis (the maiden name she recently reverted to on-camera) wasn’t willing to stick to her husband’s script.

In an attempt to balance the scales, Devon told Hilary that she could stream her Newman expose as long as she interviewed Victor (Eric Braeden) first. However, ‘Hevon’s’ attempt to do so in the ‘Moustache’s’ office at Newman Towers didn’t go well. Yet, Hilary felt compelled to use the digital footage anyway. What this tumultuous start means for the future of Devon’s fledgling enterprise can’t yet be known. But, it seems likely that Hilary will continue to push the type of content GC Buzz viewers were accustomed to while Devon attempts to tamp that gossip down.
