Something broke inside of Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) on ‘The Young and the Restless’ when Delia (Sophie Pollono) died. Everyone had compassion for a mother who just lost her child. But, that person hasn’t handled her grief properly ever since.
Chloe subsequently spent two stints in a mental health facility. After being recently released, she opted to return to Genoa City. While Chloe wasn’t initially open to reestablishing past connections, time has allowed the appearance of a healthy individual to be projected. Yet, it’s all a show.
Adam (formerly played by Justin Hartley) didn’t buy Chloe’s jailhouse act when she visited him at Walworth a few months ago. She claimed to have forgiven him. But, that apparently deceased man is savvy. He knew that something didn’t sit right with the woman who he suspected of helping his diabolical daddy.
Victor’s (Eric Braeden) recruitment of Chloe for use in his demented frame scheme hit another low in that scoundrel’s detestable existence. He played off her twisted mind by employing Delia’s mother, of all people, to exact revenge against Adam for the preposterous murder of Constance Bingham (Sally Kellerman). Then, after Chloe learned that Victor double-crossed her, she withheld evidence that would have set Adam free.
After the ‘Moustache’ helped Adam escape, Chloe applied vigilante justice at an even higher level. In a scenario that still hasn’t been explained, Chloe learned where her nemesis was hiding, quickly made her way to the remote cabin and shot Adam with a dart gun. Then, she seemingly left him to die when the woodsy setting exploded.
Regardless of Chloe’s guilt, or innocence, in the blast, she remains on the hook for Adam being jailed and being unable to complete his escape plan. While she’s mentally revisited all that went down, this hardened soul hasn’t been privately remorseful. Her current considerations of Adam’s disappearance, or death, seem to represent calculations. How ironic that Chloe thought Adam was a cold fish when she’s the real Genoa City guppy.
