‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Chelsea Suspects Chloe is Withholding Information – Adam Incident Relived, Will Shocking Truth Be Revealed?

Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) thought that she could trust Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But, clearly this person is not her best friend. Yes, trust that was broken years ago was never actually repaired.

Dedicated Y&R fans know the backstory: Adam (then played by Michael Muhney) was driving on a dark road in October 2013. He thought he hit something with his SUV, stopped, got out, checked the surrounding area and found nothing. Later, when he conducted a more thorough review of his vehicle in the penthouse garage, Adam discovered the remnants of a Halloween costume under his vehicle. Because the items found matched Chloe and Billy’s (then played by Billy Miller) daughter’s outfit and Delia (Sophie Pollono) was struck down by a hit-and-run driver, Adam understandably assumed that he was guilty of that crime. Then, he didn’t turn himself into the Genoa City Police department, which established this extended arc.

That premise has driven this character for over three years and through two solid actors. However, it has always remained plausible, if not actually true, that Adam didn’t hit Delia. He simply ran over some obstruction and the costume pieces lodged under the SUV because they were strewn on the road. The assumed other hit-and-run driver has never been shown. That hanging plot point continues to poke viewers in their eyes.

Chloe and Billy naturally detested Adam for his perceived cowardly behavior. Billy was eventually able to publicly forgive him. Two trips to mental health facilities merely served to mark time for Chloe. Then, after recently returning to Genoa City, she eagerly participated in Victor’s (Eric Braeden) Adam frame. When Adam’s escape attempt from jail was nearly successful, Chloe shot her nemesis with a dart gun and apparently left him to die in a cabin that subsequently exploded.

Viewers confirmed that Chloe does have memories of the actual explosion. That’s key because that fact puts her close to the scene of his supposed death, instead of her having already left the proximity. Therefore, she may have caused the explosion herself.

Chloe’s dream about Justin Hartley’s final Y&R scenes was seen by her claimed best friend. Chelsea heard her mention Adam’s name when she was deep in REM sleep. However Chloe attempts to explain away that witnessed event, Chelsea’s suspicions have been raised again.
