‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Cane And Lily’s Marriage In Trouble – Cane Ditches Family For Career

The Young and the Restless’ Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard) has proven this week that he is a huge asset to Brash & Sassy, and he is the true driving force behind the company’s success.  Lily Winters Ashby (Christel Khalil) seems to be 100% behind her husband, and makes her views known to the company owner, Jill Abbott Atkinson (Jess Walton), who acknowledges and agrees with her.

Sources reveal that Lily may have been Cane’s biggest cheerleader, but when she brings their twins to the office to see if Cane will come with them to pick pumpkins and carve them, he is too busy with work and building his career to spend any time with them.  Cane is determined to prove to Jill, that she cannot take Chancellor away from him a second time, and his family suffers as a result of his choice.

Cane may be insistent on proving himself, but Jill sees what is happening with his family, and she encourages him to take time for his family, even offering for them to do the pumpkin carving right there at the office.  While his twins are in a competition to see who can create a better pumpkin face, they accidentally ruin Cane’s Brash & Sassy project.  Cane gets very upset with the children, between trying to be the husband and family man he needs to be, and trying to prove that Jill made the right choice, he is very stressed and irritable.

Lily may be understanding because she grew up with a father very similar to Cane.  Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) was also a career-driven man, but struggled to make time for his children and wife as well.  Cane’s heart is in the right place.  He wants to succeed for his children, he wants them to have a great future, and understand that it will come with hard work and dedication; but in the process, he is forgetting to balance both work and home life, something young children do not understand.  All they see, is their father isn’t home with them.

Will Cane’s drive for career success actually end up driving his family away?  Right now, he is stressed trying to prove himself to Jill, but something is going to break.  Whether it is his family, or his career remains to be seen.  Will Lily continue to fight to keep her family together and support Cane’s ambitions, or will she see the pain in his children’s eyes before its’ too late?
