‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Bethany Plays Victor Newman’s Game – Will Chrishell Stause Be Bumped To Contract?

Bethany (Chrishell Stause) may have bested Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Comparing handwriting on an envelope to a past signature on an Athletic Club bill, she easily determined that one of Victor’s associates gave her a key with directions to a $3 million dollar locker door. The ‘Moustache’s’ opening offer was actually $1 million, but Bethany’s poise and shrewd bargaining skills earned an additional paper payoff from the deceptive billionaire.

Victor recently reached a much-anticipated agreement with Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson). She turned over Sage’s (Kelly Sullivan) diary pages in exchange for him dropping his threat to take Bella (Cali May Kinder). Victor didn’t tell his original mystery woman who would subsequently take the fall in a fluid scheme that seeks Adam’s (Justin Hartley) release from prison. And, that’s how Bethany entered the picture.

Stause’s character on ‘The Young and the Restless’ was introduced as a temporary romantic interest for Billy (Jason Thompson). Like various recurring players, she appeared one day in Genoa City. While Bethany’s maintained contact with Billy and has enjoyed bantering with Jill (Jess Walton), her purpose within the show’s storyline have evolved into resolving Adam’s arc.

The timing of Stause’s addition to the cast of ‘The Young and the Restless’ is interesting. The veteran actor previously portrayed Amanda on ‘All My Children’ (2005-2011) and Jordan on ‘Days of Our Lives’ (2013-2015). She has also played various other characters in television shows and movies through the years. So, her industry credentials aren’t in question.

But, viewers are right to wonder if Stause’s real life romantic connection with Hartley, as the pair is now engaged, is being leveraged by Y&R in some way. It’s reasonable to believe that Hartley could be more inclined to stick with the soap, even if his upcoming prime time series ‘This Is Us’ proves successful, if Stause remains as a recurring character, or is bumped to regular status. Countless accomplished actors are qualified to appear on daytime dramas. It makes sense that someone who demonstrated past success within the genre was hired by Y&R and if said actor (Stause) also served as an incentive to retain another cast member who’s very public addition took place in 2014. Possibly, Bethany and Victor aren’t the only people who know how to play the game.
