‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Nick Offers Empathy To Sharon – Chelsea’s Influence On Nick Grows

Nick (Joshua Morrow) didn’t give Sharon (Sharon Case) a full pass on ‘The Young and the Restless’. He told Paul (Doug Davidson) and Christine (Lauralee Bell) that he wouldn’t press charges and wouldn’t testify against her in front of a jury, if it came to that. Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) positive influence clearly helped Nick to develop and apply that compassionate perspective.

Christian’s (Jamie and Alister Tobias) father, or at least the man who’s now believed to be his father, said from the beginning that Sharon had suffered. Yes, he was mad about his son being withheld from him for a year. But Nick recognized that his ex-wife’s intentions weren’t fully malicious and that she was victimized by Sandy (Elizabeth Bogush).

Chelsea and Nick were pushed together as a result of Adam’s (formerly played by Justin Hartley) death, or perceived death. However, both solid actors are creating a believable friendship that obviously has the potential to become a romantic connection. Sage (Kelly Sullivan), like Adam, is gone. And neither of their living spouses currently have alternative options. So ‘Chick’ should continue to evolve for awhile.

The stance Nick has taken appears to strike a proper balance between empathy and acceptance. He knows that Sharon has battled mental health problems for years and previously experienced the horror of having their daughter Faith (currently played by Alyvia Alyn Lind) stolen from her at birth while at Fairview. Chelsea’s regular presence has allowed a mother’s point of view to be properly interjected at various plot points within the last week. She is a calming influence over Nick, which is positive for all involved.

Moving forward, Sharon and Dylan (Steve Burton) are almost assured of remaining on the rocks. Burton’s final scenes will be filmed next month and recast news remains unknown. That means it’s possible Mr. McAvoy will be leaving Genoa City shortly after the New Year arrives. The decision about ‘Shylan’s’ future will directly tie into the extended interplay his character has with Sharon and his brother Nick regarding this long-awaited and now revealed baby swap storyline.
