‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Abby And Stitch’s Marital Connection Slipping – Will ‘Stabby’ Survive?

Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Stitch (Sean Carrigan) survived the fire at Newman Towers. And, they initially appeared to have a good marriage. But, the lingering effects of Max’s (Jared Breeze) actions and the connected death of Abby and Stitch’s unborn baby continues to impact this marriage on ‘The Young and the Restless’.

Any couple that achieves a nickname, be it in real life, or on the soaps, has mojo. As viewers recall, ‘Stabby’ took awhile to form. Abby hated Ben when she first met him, believing at the time that he was responsible for the murder of his father. In time Dylan’s (Steve Burton) army medic buddy Ben, thus the tag Stitch, revealed that he covered for his mother Maureen (Meredith Baxter). She murdered her alcoholic husband, who was violently abusive, and allowed Ben to fall on his sword for her.

Developed backstories are created for important characters on soap operas. Carrigan is a contract player and Dr. Ben Rayburn has become a key resident of Genoa City since his arrival in Wisconsin in 2013. So, Stitch’s personal history was briefly reviewed to help establish one reason why he’s leery where family matters are concerned on ‘The Young and the Restless’.

Max came to live with his father, Stitch, after Jenna (Stephanie Lemelin) died last year. Abby gained an unexpected ready-made family when Max moved to GC early in 2016. Soon thereafter his hatred of Abby was revealed and her pregnancy pushed Max over the edge. After playing childish games with his unwanted stepmother, Max caused Abby to fall by setting a trap with fishing wire on the Athletic Club’s main stairway. Abby’s miscarriage was later directly linked to Max’s actions on ‘The Young and the Restless’.

As a doctor, Stitch knows that Max’s behavior was caused by a brain tumor. But, he’s never forgotten his own father’s alcoholism and resulting bad behavior. Surely those genetic factors must be weighing on his mind, in addition to having to deal with Max’s ongoing treatment and Abby’s recent miscarriage. Whether Abby will be willing to give her husband time to work through these issues will help to determine how strong her marriage truly is. As many couples know, sometimes love isn’t enough to overcome complications.
