‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Abby and Ben Working on Marriage – Will Stabby Survive?

Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Ben (Sean Carrigan) continue to work through some marital issues on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Still reeling from their loss of their unborn child, ‘Stabby’ has been struggling in recent months. But, time should allow this likeable couple to repair their marriage.

Max (Jared Breeze) damaged his father’s new life on Y&R. That young boy’s brain tumor was eventually discovered to be the cause of his purposefully destructive behavior. He wasn’t in full control of himself and didn’t know how to ask for help. Even considering that truth, the resulting consequences of his actions deeply impacted ‘Stabby’s’ relationship and had to be handled.

All new couples learn how to share their combined lives together. The process is rarely easy, involves compromise and a sense of balance. In this instance, Ben added a son from a previous marriage after his ex-wife, Jenna (Stephanie Lemelin), unexpectedly died. Abby wasn’t initially prepared for a ready-made-family. But, she adapted and gave Max leeway for awhile. Then, a pattern of actions made her rightfully distrust his intentions in her regard.

It became apparent that Max was targeting Abby, for reasons that seemed related to jealousy at the time. Unfortunately, his health issue wasn’t confirmed until after he caused Abby to fall down the Genoa City Athletic Club stairs. The resulting loss of ‘Stabby’s’ baby naturally proved devastating. Ben dealt with his son’s needed care and recovery, while also coping with his own grief. Abby felt abandoned and believed that her marriage was over.

While it hadn’t worked out long-term, Ben’s first marriage allowed him to have perspective. Abby, the former wild child, was experiencing her first truly meaningful relationship. Her naivete enabled various doomed assumptions and left her feeling abandoned.

Time has passed since the aforementioned events took place. And, while ‘Stabby’ wasn’t on the same page where the topic of another baby is concerned, both parties have now expressed their sincere love for each other. With that, time, continued effort and continued understanding an enduring relationship is possible.
