Many characters are currently in limbo on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Seasoned soap opera fans know that the crossroads many Genoa City residents are facing are connected to the swap of Chuck Pratt, Jr. for Sally Sussman. As the new co-executive producer and head writer’s work flows, Newman family members are sure to head in differing directions.
Victor (Eric Braeden) has softened mightily in recent weeks. With excursions to Peru having ended long ago and malicious treatment of Adam (formerly played by Justin Hartley) having ended in the worst way possible, the Moustache has become deeply reflective. He has his devoted wife, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) by his side. She deserves meatier plot lines. As for Victor, he seems intent on changing course, which could be one of Sussman’s signature opening lines.
Nick (Joshua Morrow) has his undead son back in his life. Yes, in the soap world can a line like that be written and read. With the big reveal now finally shown, Nick can move into the next phase of his life. Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) was Pratt’s choice to become Nick’s next ‘Chick’. All overreactions about that word are laughed off by daytime devotees and social media masters who know that it represents the moniker of a looming super couple.

Vickie (Amelia Heinle) just dumped Travis (Michael Roark) and appears to have no intentions of reclaiming a relationship with Billy (Jason Thompson). However, her son Reed (now played in a recast role by Tristan Lake Leabu) will provide a new wrinkle when he comes to Wisconsin. Might J.T. (Thad Luckinbill, Heinle’s real life husband since 2007) return as well?
Abby (Melissa Ordway) thought her way out of her marriage to Ben (Sean Carrigan), who has been scantly seen in recent months. ‘Stitch’ was a fine couple with potential. Full finality hasn’t been stamped on their relationship. So possibly it will rise again, unless Abby meets a new man?
Summer (Hunter King) has been helping her mom deal with the dissolution of ‘Phack’. Noah (Robert Adamson) has admirably filled in for his dad at The Underground, as Nick begins to bounce back from a terrible year. Summer is in line for additional responsibility at Newman Enterprises and a new love interest. Noah could return to the corporate life if his grandfather isn’t involved. Both actors have recurring status. Their storylines could expand if contract factors change.
