‘The Young and the Restless’ RUMOR: Ravi Goes Too Far – Ashley Unable To Deflect Smitten Employee

Ravi Shapur (Abhi Sinha) really likes Ashley (Eileen Davidson) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Jack (Peter Bergman) noticed Jabot’s new tech employee’s interest in his sister the first time he met him. Ashley recently acknowledged the crush as well, but believes Ravi is harmless. However, the modern workplace can be a cauldron when it comes to romance and those who take things too far, or are perceived to have done so.

Ashley needed technical assistance with the Jabot-Go application. Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) is moving in another career direction and, more importantly, isn’t trusted by her ex-sister-in-law. So Ashley recruited a new employee to help some some technical bugs.

Mr. Shapur has been presented as a stereotypical geek. Glasses-wearing, computer oriented, but wait we’re not referencing Natalie (Mara McCaffray). Oh yes, this particular plot calls for a younger male who is crushing hard on a woman who’s approximately twice his age. Ms. Soderberg doesn’t fit that bill.

Ms. Abbott hasn’t been lucky in love in recent years. Viewers embraced her most recent quirky and age-appropriate companion. But Dr. Simon Neville (Michael E. Knight) wasn’t a long-term cast fixture. For whatever reason, he was written off earlier this year. So, Ashley’s still available.

The complexities involved in Ravi’s work means that he’s working closely with his boss. However, his recent request for her cell phone number was deftly deflected. Ashley advised that Jabot has an executive service that will allow him to reach her 24/7, which was a hint that their connection isn’t personal.

Certain personality types aren’t able to read between the lines when it comes to romance. Ravi appears to be this type of character. What moves he makes next could determine whether he’s removed from his position, is put in jail for harassment or becomes a regular character on Y&R.

Kissing someone wasn’t a crime when the world was reasonable. But a combination of genuinely serious instances, exaggerated claims and varying power plays within the work world have turned all things upside down. Here’s hoping that Y&R doesn’t portray yet another male as the ‘bad guy’ because that wouldn’t represent creative thought.
