‘The Young and the Restless’ RUMOR: Hilary’s Power Play Pushes Devon Closer to Mariah

Might Devon (Bryton James) connect with Mariah (Camryn Grimes) on ‘The Young and the Restless’? Could be, if Hilary (Mishael Morgan) continues to play power games with her husband. A GC Buzz-linked storyline will keep Devon, Mariah and Hilary in a tense triangle as 2017 begins.

Now that Hilary has reestablished herself as the website’s queen diva, Mariah is sure to be bossed around again. Grimes’ character surely won’t take that treatment indefinitely. She’ll be put in a position to become Devon’s sounding board and vice versa. That dynamic establishes the potential for ‘Hevon’ being replaced by ‘Mavon’, or ‘Deriah’ if one prefers.

Barry Strickland (Matt Champagne) owed Jack (Peter Bergman) a favor. So the talent agent agreed to meet with Hilary. He told her that she had potential. Barry gave her his card and also advised that if she was interested in getting serious about her career that she should get in touch with him.

Hilary turned that lookover into leverage. She advised Devon that he could talk with her agent after hubby broached the subject of her professional position. This came after Devon fired Hilary from her lead reporter duties at GC Buzz. Hilary’s aim was to make her supposed soul mate think she was in demand, when she wasn’t. Devon fell for her latest truth-stretch and offered Hilary her old job back with full control, as long as she abided by his call to play fairly at work.

Lily (Christel Khalil) happened upon Barry while she was working at the Genoa City Athletic Club. Using her own Hilary-esque skills, she was able to pull information from Champagne’s character.

Devon was stunned and angered to learn what Lily later passed along at his Christmas party. But news that Hilary didn’t have multiple job offers didn’t result in the relationship split Lily was hoping for. Yet, Devon’s prior move to fire the woman he believes is his true love indicates that he’ll take further steps in the future. His consideration of ‘Hevon’s’ future surely seems likely to be one of them.
