The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) Sharon McAvoy (Sharon Case) has really dug herself into a hole these days. Sharon has been through many things in her life, a lot of them happening when she is in a bipolar manic episode, but this time she cannot use that excuse as a crutch. Does she really deserve any rights to Christian at all?
Sharon checked herself into Fairview Psychiatric Facility after she had a miscarriage and worried how her husband, Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton) would handle it. While there, she was given mind-altering drugs into believing she didn’t miscarry the baby like she originally thought.
She signed papers to keep away from her and one day she was handed a baby, being told he was hers and within days she was well enough, physically and mentally to go home. While she was home with her husband and family, her ex-husband, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and his wife, Sage (Kelly Sullivan) were mourning the loss of their newborn son, Christian.
Fast-forward six months, and Sage learns the truth, that Sharon’s son Sullivan “Sully”, is actually her son Christian. Sage, letting the best of her stop her from grabbing the baby and running home to Nick, left Sharon’s house, intending on telling Nick the truth; had Sharon not chased after her, Sage wouldn’t have died from distracted driving, and right now Sage would be home raising her own son.
Sharon has known this whole time that she was not raising her own child, but she couldn’t bear to tell Dylan the truth because this would have been the third child he lost. Sharon continued to live with the lie, figuring the lie died with Sage. She allowed Dylan to bond with “Sully”, knowing how dangerous it was to keep the secret alive. Although Sharon’s heart was in the right place, she had to have known the longer she held out, the worse it would become.
Now that the truth is out, Sharon and Dylan are in the fight of their lives. Nick believes he is Christian’s biological father and had every right to take him home and raise him; but what is in the best interest of the child? Sharon is the only mother the little guy has known as his parents, and in spite of everything Sharon has done, she does love him and has never harmed him.
Please take this POLL and let us know what you think, does Sharon deserve to have visitation with Christian, or is it better to cut those ties while he is still young?
