‘The Young And The Restless’ Poll: Will Phyllis And Billy Survive The Storm And Become Real Couple After ‘Philly’ Reveal? VOTE!

‘Philly’ has been revealed on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Now that the world knows Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Billy (Jason Thompson) were a couple, a number of questions have emerged. One of them is: Will this formerly hidden duo become a real couple?

Their relationship developed for many reasons. As loyal fans recall, Burgess Jenkins was still playing Billy when that character began growing closer to Phyllis. As time passed the connection deepened. Jack’s (Peter Bergman) inattentiveness created an emotional distance from ‘Red’. That space created an opportunity for Billy and some believe that he took advantage.

Blame can be divided at another time. What’s definitive right now is that the second half of ‘Phack’, namely Jack, has called for divorce proceedings. Purely based on the new haircut and walk-up music that rolled at the start of one of this week’s episodes, it wouldn’t seem wise to lay money on a Phyllis-Jack reconciliation any time within the remainder of this decade.

So, Phyllis has been released from her nuptials. There’s no doubt that she came to care about Billy and actually said that she loved him. For his part, Billy also testified to being fully smitten with ‘Red’. How long that claimed devotion would last if Vickie (Amelia Heinle) ever gives him anther chance is debatable. But, as of now, Phyllis continues to cloud Billy’s mind.

Doesn’t it seem more likely than not that two scorned souls would turn to each other during this time of self-inflicted need? Unless new characters are about to be written into Y&R, Phyllis and Billy need consolation. Before Jill (Jess Walton) blew their cover, they were planning to be a couple. So, what’s left to lose if they become that now?

Jack still holds grudges from the 1980’s. So, he’s surely never going to forget this double knife to the heart. While time won’t fully heal this wounds, the passage of it will create a chance for ‘Philly’ to genuinely pursue a life together. These characters have deep histories of instability, so all won’t flow smoothly. Maybe they’ll make it work, at least for awhile.
