‘The Young and the Restless’ POLL: Is Adam Really Dead or Will Y&R Bring in a Recast? VOTE!

“The Young and the Restless” spoilers tease that Adam’s (Justin Hartley) death will bring darkness to Genoa City. Victor (Eric Braeden) will grieve for his son and plot revenge on his murderer, which may or may not be Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) depending on how this plays out. Meanwhile, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) will struggle to come to grips with this devastating loss.

It’s clear that some major mourning will be going on. “The Young and the Restless” will give us a memorial for Adam and we’ll watch his distraught loved ones push through the pain. However, we have to wonder if this is truly the end for Adam. Justin Hartley recently confirmed his departure from Y&R, but that doesn’t mean Adam is gone forever.

Recasts are quite common in the soap world. We all dread them, but they usually don’t turn out to be as bad as we expected. There’s always an adjustment period, but “The Young and the Restless” fans typically accept the newbie sooner or later. When Michael Muhney left, most viewers thought he was simply irreplaceable. Then, Hartley showed up and blew us all away with his spin on the crafty Newman.

We hate to see Hartley leave the role he’s played so well, but it would be nice to see Adam stick around. Adam is such an important player in Genoa City. Victor will need a successor one day and Nick (Joshua Morrow) just isn’t going to cut it. He’s too easily swayed by others.

Adam is his own man and would be a worthy replacement once Victor vacates the throne. Nick is a good guy, but maybe that’s the problem. We need someone with a few more layers. Adam has some heart, but he also has a scheming side.

Nevertheless, we can’t ignore the fact that bringing in a new Adam comes with risks. We were pleasantly surprised by Hartley as a recast. Can lightning strike twice? We may not be as lucky with the next one. Plus, they’ve killed Adam off in a very similar manner as the time before. It’s getting a bit repetitive.

With that in mind, it’s possible that Y&R will just cut their losses and let Adam rest in peace. Still, it’s rare to see a significant character killed off in his or her prime like this. It happens occasionally, but it’s not the norm.

Do you think Adam is really dead or will a recast be brought in? We’ll give you updates as other news and rumors surface. Stay tuned and don’t forget to check Soap Opera Spy often for the latest “Young and the Restless” spoilers, rumors, updates and news.
