“The Young and the Restless” Billy Abbott [Jason Patrick] is now the proud owner of Katherine Chancellor’s [Jeanne Cooper] beautiful mansion and has renovated one of the most beloved homes in all of Genoa City.
Jill Atkinson [Jess Walton] gone, hopefully not forever, and Esther Valentine [Kate Linder] is living on her own after decades as Katherine’s loyal maid and friend. Have TPTB ruined the one last iconic set on “The Young and the Restless”?
This isn’t the first time the writers have changed a familiar and beloved home on the daytime drama. The main house at the Newman Ranch burned down and rather than return the beautiful home to its majestic and stately former look it was rebuilt in a much more modern fashion. “Y&R” fans weren’t happy with that change and it seems they aren’t happy with the changes to Chancellor mansion either.
There has already been some backlash about Billy touching even one item in Katherine’s home. There are quite a few who believe that the set should never, ever be changed as it is a testament not only to Katherine but to her portrayer Jeanne Cooper.
Appalled, sick, disgusted, that’s how several fans have reacted to the changes Billy has made. One of the things viewers seem to dislike the most is the new color scheme — it’s too dark and depressing they believe. Some are willing to wait until the set is complete – meaning TPTB need to get some furniture into the mansion.
Interesting, cool, just glad to have the house back as part of the show is how some fans reacted. There are a few who are very happy with the changes and think it was long past time for some life to be put back into the mansion.
What’s done is done, right? But which side are you on? Do you love it or hate it? Or are you somewhere in the middle? Are you waiting to see what the mansion looks like with furniture and children running around? Should Billy have left Chancellor mansion exactly the same?
