‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) is filled with women, who really don’t appear to do much on the show, Phyllis Abbott (Gina Tognoni) is not one of them. When she first arrived in Genoa City in 1994, no one really knew what to expect, or how much damaged one person could truly cause.
For those of you who remember, she arrived in town obsessed with Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian), even insisting that her son Daniel (Michael Graziadei) was his. This revelation caused a lot of problems between her and Christine “Cricket’ Blair (Lauralee Bell). Unlike other people on soap operas, Phyllis has only been involved with three men, but it was her scheming, lying, manipulating, and cheating that always ruined everything.
Phyllis and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) seemed to have it all. They were a much-loved couple by fans, and even while Phyllis was off in her coma, Jack remained faithful to her for over a year. When all things seemed to be hopeless, Jack got involved with psychopath, Kelly Andrews (Cady McClain), one more woman Jack would end up sharing with his brother, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson).
If you could describe Phyllis Abbott, you could use to words fierce and protective, but recently she has fallen back into her old ways. When she chose to cheat on Jack with his own little brother, Billy, we all knew this was the beginning of the end for Jack and Phyllis. Had this been the only time she had cheated on him, he might have been able to forgive her, but she in 2005 she had cheated on him with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), creating a paternity story from hell for Jack.
Ever since the Y&R affair was exposed, Jack has been pushing Phyllis away, harder than he ever has, and truthfully, who could blame him? The strange thing that is happening right now is that Jack is seeking vengeance on Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) for everything he has done to destroy him and his family, and the biggest thing that started this trail of destruction was the fact that Victor hurt Phyllis in unimaginable ways; if Jack hates Phyllis that much, why would he even bother?
On the flip side of everything, Phyllis has endured what no woman should. First, she lay in a coma for over a year, when Sharon Newman McAvoy (Sharon Case) attempted to stop her from telling the truth about the DNA switch, and then again, when Victor kidnapped and took Jack hostage on his honeymoon, and replaced him with his doppelganger, Marco Annicelli.
You cannot help but feel sorry for Phyllis, as she has ended up a casualty of war more than once between the Newmans and the Abbotts. This still isn’t an excuse for cheating on her husband with his brother, but it does explain her mentality.
Please take this poll and tell us what you think. Do you believe Phyllis deserves another chance with Jack, or did her sleeping with Billy simply cross a line she can never come back from? “They were a much-loved couple by fans”
Excuse me? They have like three fans. The Philly fanbase is biggest fanbase.
Phyllis loved Nick, Ronan and Billy more.
“When she chose to cheat on Jack with his own little brother, Billy, we
all knew this was the beginning of the end for Jack and Phyllis”
NO! The beginning of the end was when Jack decided to do NOTHING after his wife was raped.
