‘The Young And The Restless’ News: Mysterious Escape Tunnel Provides ‘Y&R’ Fans With One Last ‘Chadam’ Reunion

Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Connor (Gunner and Ryder Gadbois) escaped from the penthouse on ‘The Young and the Restless’. They used a secret passageway that Adam (Justin Hartley) constructed when he was living across the hall as Gabriel Bingham. Yes, the writers invented a super soapy explanation to further the plot.

Cynics sarcastically wondered if Adam’s wife and son were taken from the penthouse to the woods by drone. But, fans may have guessed that Chelsea and Connor climbed out on the terrace, inched their way across the ledge, and climbed into another condo, as some television and movie characters have done through the years. But, no, ‘Chadam’ later revealed to the audience of ‘The Young and the Restless’ that the aforementioned passageway was constructed a while ago. Strange that it was subsequently never mentioned, until now. But, again, that’s soap.

Y&R is dealing with Hartley’s planned daytime break. So, it was necessary to create an elaborate arc that coincided with the show’s milestone 11,000th episode this week. So, the high-end tunnel that Adam apparently created when he was living as Gabriel materialized on ‘The Young and the Restless’. This proves that Y&R isn’t a PBS documentary.

Those who voluntarily partake in escapist entertainment know that they choose to willingly suspend disbelief. The developed ability to take a mental leap often separates accepting fans from constant criticizers who are actually pure grumps underneath. Cynics will often be disappointed by daytime drama. Complainers at heart, based upon real, or elaborated maladies, those poor souls should limit themselves to intellectual drama so angina doesn’t take hold.

Yes, that hidden hallway was preposterous. But, ‘Chadam’ had to be reunited before ‘This Is Us‘ debuts on NBC in September. A few last hours as a family played out before Genoa City’s police moved in. Possibly, if Hartley returns to the set in a number of months, Adam can reverse his escape route and go back in.
