‘The Young And The Restless’ News: Justin Hartley Answers ‘Y&R’ Fans’ Questions About Adam Newman, Plus Working On Soaps

‘The Young and the Restless’ star Justin Hartley [Adam Newman] hosted a live question and answer event on Tuesday, April 19. The actor answered fans questions about ‘Y&R’ co-stars, what Justin thinks about his character, and the differences between daytime and primetime.

Question: Any dream roles you want to do?

JH: Feels like I’m in it. I’ve got a great character and a great story. It’s close to home and my cast is amazing I love it here!!

Question: What do you like best about being on YR?

JH: Good question. It’s sort of like my favorite ice cream flavor, it changes every week. Last week it was the cast and crew. This week it is working in Los Angeles and being close to home.

Question: Is it sometimes challenging to bring the script to life?

JH: Some scripts are more challenging than others. You have to embrace every story line you are given and go with it.

Question: If you had the chance of playing another character on the show that would you pick?

JH: Without a doubt Chelsea [Melissa Claire Egan] because she gets to make out with Adam.

Question: Comparing daytime to primetime television – how are the different? Is there more pressure in daytime as far as learning scripts, etc.? Also…favorite primetime gig – Revenge or Mistresses?

JH: They are two completely different animals. The pressure of speed is much more prevalent in daytime television and also doing a scene 20 times and making it fresh has its own challenges. They are totally different and I love them both.

Question: What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

JH: I have an eleven year old daughter who occupies a lot of my spare time.

Question: Any differences between your character and your real life personality?

JH: There are TONS of differences between myself and Adam. First of all, I’m typically [not] a liar. I have friends and I get along with my parents. There are also some similarities. I’m fiercely loyal and calm under pressure.

‘Y&R’ viewers’ enthusiasm for Justin Hartley as Adam Newman is very positive. Many asked if Justin thought TPTB might “bring back Gabe Bingham” in order for Justin to portray a dual role. ‘Young and the Restless’ fans love Justin and want to see more of him on the daytime drama.
