‘The Young And The Restless’ News: Jack Abbott Embodies Victor Newman During Phyllis’ Dangerous Fall

Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) is behaving like old-school Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Ascending the stairs at the Abbott mansion, Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) was pleading with her husband to forgive her. But, Jack yanked her hands away from his arm and ‘Red’ tumbled down the stairs. Longtime viewers instantly flashed back to Victor having inadvertently caused Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) fall down the stairs at the Newman Ranch many years ago when she was pregnant with Jack’s baby.

Details of the umpteenth messy incident in ‘Niktor’s’ history can be Googled for further details. Suffice it to say, both women’s accidents resulted from similar shrugs of two different lugs. In this instance, as with Victor’s, the look on Jack’s face dramatically turned from contempt to urgent concern.

Of all people, Billy (Jason Thompson) entered the house at the exact moment that Phyllis hit the floor. He quickly lashed out at his brother, assuming that Jack had intentionally created the crisis. Of course, the optics of the situation, combined with all that’s swirling around ‘Phack’ makes this a major problem.

Victor seems likely to jab another stick into both of Jack’s eyes as soon as he learns the details of what happened. “What goes around comes around”, might even be uttered through the ‘Moustache’. Victor was berated many times over the years for having caused Nikki to lose the unborn child that she was carrying. And that baby (John Abbott III) was Jack’s, as all fans remember.

So, Jack tried the peace approach. That failed, as Phyllis and his marriage spun out of control during the past year-plus. Now, within days of him assuming a me-first stance, this accident occurred in his home. It’s almost like Jack Abbott II is cursed?

Jack needs advice from his father, as he often has in the past. It doesn’t matter that John Abbott I (Jerry Douglas) has been dead for years. His spirit is scheduled to appear on Y&R (via the United States feed) on September 26.
