‘The Young And The Restless’ spoilers tease that the CBS soap opera has hired a big name British soap producer to join the ranks at ‘Y&R.’ The daytime drama department at CBS has brought on British soap producer Mal Young, and added him to their already impressive team, according to an all new report from Daytime Confidential.
The U.K. soap business is still booming – despite the dwindling number of remaining daytime dramas in the United States. So, if there is anyone who knows a thing or two about keeping soap operas afloat – it’s the British producer Mal Young. Young boasts a very impressive soap resume – and there is no doubt that he will be a valuable asset to ‘The Young And The Restless.’

Mal Young is most well-known for his work on the wildly popular U.K. soap opera ‘EastEnders.‘ Not only did he work on ‘EastEnders’ from 1997-2004, but he also co-created two British television shows: ‘Doctors’ and ‘And The Beat Goes On.’ It’s unclear what exactly Mal’s role is at the CBS soap, but he confirmed the news on Twitter on January 8th. Young tweeted, “End of week one and loving my new ‘Y&R’ CBS family.”
As of right now it looks like Mal Young was just an addition to the CBS crew at ‘The Young And The Restless‘ – there is no indication that he is Jill Farren Phelps or Chuck Pratt’s replacement. It looks like CBS is stacking their regime for 2016 – and with Mal Young at the helm as well, they are well on their way to being named the number one network for daytime drama (again).
