Thad Luckinbill (ex-JT Hellstrom, The Young and the Restless) will play a privileged, old money type in an upcoming ABC pilot. But there’s a twist—his character will be a likable guy!
Series developers cast Luckinbill as Oliver, husband to the central character, Gemma, reports Michael Fairman. In addition to his acting skills, honed over many years on the small and big screens, Luckinbill’s unforgettable looks—chiseled, classically handsome features, blond hair, and blue eyes—no doubt played a part in the casting.
Meaghan Oppenheimer wrote the pilot, which Academy Award winner, Reese Witherspoon, will executive produce. Luckinbilll produced and co-starred with Witherspoon in 2014’s “The Good Lie.”
The series will follow the life of Gemma, a Dallas divorce lawyer, as the reappearance of her sister, Jules, in her life turns it upside down. Could some soap-esque backstabbing/cheating be involved, given Luckinbill’s dashing charm?

Luckinbill gained a band of loyal, soap-viewing fans from his eleven-year stint on The Young and the Restless. There he met his wife, the super-popular Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman). JT and Victoria were married on the show as well. Off-screen, the couple shares two children, nine-year-old Thaddeus Rowe Luckinbill, Jr. and seven-year-old Georgia March Luckinbill. Luckinbill is also stepfather to Amelia’s son from her first marriage, to Michael Weatherly who played Cooper Alden on Loving, on which she played Steffy Brewster.
Luckinbill is co-owner of Black Label Media, the production company behind the much-lauded and much-nominated 2015 film, “Sicario.”

Fans of Luckinbill’s JT Hellstrosm have held out hope for his return to Genoa City since his departure in 2010, which still can’t be ruled out. Actors often do double duty with daytime and primetime gigs these days. And whether this pilot will lead to more episodes is still unknown.
