‘The Young And The Restless’ News: Alicia Coppola Confirms ‘Y&R’ Exit, Meredith Gates Leaving Genoa City

Has Alicia Coppola ended her run as Meredith Gates on ‘The Young and the Restless’?  It sure looks like it! Coppola, who recently joined the cast in a recurring role seems to have ended her run on the CBS soap opera. Coppola made her first appearance as Meredith on April 13, 2016, where Meredith became Victor’s [Eric Braeden} doctor in prison and they later became great friends. It was just this week that Coppola took to twitter to reveal Meredith will no longer be in Genoa City. “Thank you to everyone for all of your love & support of Meredith on @YandR_CBS. Even to those who hated her.”

Twas’ fun while it lasted and though we want more of Meredith that’s up to the powers that be. Meredith in her short run surely rendered some emotional and powerful performances. The writing was incredible indeed and for a brief moment it seemed that the writers were about to give viewers a Meredith and Victor pairing as they shared a couple kisses. But, with Nikki [Melody Thomas Scott] and Victor reuniting the pairing with Meredith could not have worked.

However fans would have loved to see her with someone else. Jack [Peter Bergman] and Phyllis’ [Gina Tognoni] relationship is about to explode when he busts his cheating wife. Fans were thinking of a pairing between Meredith and Jack and Coppola thought of it as a great idea. When a fan took to Twitter to share how much they would have love to see Meredith hook up with Jack, Coppola replied “I would have loved to work with Peter Bergman on @YRInsider @YandR_CBS. He’s a lovely actor!” Do you think that pairing could have worked fans?

Though she has ended her run on ‘The Young and the Restless’, she has a few other appearances in the works. Look for her to make an appearance in the series ‘Shameless’ as Sue. She will also be a part of the movie ‘Cowgirl’s Story’ as Lieutenant Helen Rhodes and ‘Stay’ as Alison Hess’
