“The Young and the Restless” star Scott Elrod [ex-Joe Clark] isn’t as unhappy as you would think he is about being fired from “Y&R.” The actor was fairly certain he was headed out the door before executive producer Jill Farren Phelps gave Scott the bad news.
Even though Scott had a feeling Joe Clark was leaving Genoa City, Elrod was disappointed that TPTB didn’t do more with the character. In a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest the actor revealed that he believes there TPTB at “The Young and the Restless” didn’t know quite what to do with Joe. “I thought he had huge potential. They could’ve teamed him up with Victor or Adam. They just didn’t give Joe a chance,” Elrod said in the interview with Soap Opera Digest.

Scott Elrod left “Y&R” on good terms and understands at the end of the day a soap opera is a business. “The Young and the Restless” has a very large cast with several storylines going at once. “There are absolutely no hard feelings at all,” Scott says.
Not long after Elrod’s dismissal from “Y&R” it was announced that the actor was joining the cast of the ABC nighttime drama “Grey’s Anatomy.” Get ready to meet Dr. Will Thorpe, a very successful oncologist. At first Scott thought he’d be on the blockbuster Shonda Rhimes show for one episode, but the actor revealed he’s currently filming more episodes. Could it be that Scott will fill the void left when Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd [Patrick Dempsey] was killed off?
