‘The Young and The Restless’ Coming and Goings: Star Trek Icon Nichelle Nichols Headed To Genoa City

‘The Young and the Restless’ 11’000th episode is coming up and the producers are doing everything to make sure it’s a memorable episode and week.

September 1st will mark the show’s 11,000th episode after 43 years on the CBS network. One icon is set to make a guest appearance for a two episode arc to commemorate the show’s milestone. Angelica McDaniel, the head of CBS daytime shared today that Nichelle Nichols will make a guest appearance by tweeting “Genoa City celebrates #YR11K with @StarTrek icon #NichelleNichols! #LiveLongAndProsper @YandR_CBS @CBSDaytime”.

Nichols will play the character of Lucinda who will share an emotional connection to a main cast member as teased by CBS. Which main cast member do you think it is? Reportedly Nichols will first appear on September 1 and will guest appear in another episode after.

She is rather thrilled to be able to do this guest appearance. “I’m thrilled and honored to be a member of the cast of this historic moment in daytime television,” Nichols told Mashable in a statement. “I’ve been a huge fan of ‘The Young and the Restless’ for decades. I’m equally honored to be from Chicago like the Bell Family who created this incredible TV show,” she shared.

She is an icon having appeared on ‘Star Trek’ and many other shows. She played Lieutenant Uhura on ‘Star Trek’ from 1966 – 1969 and then in six movies. Nichols remains highly recognized today after years of making several TV appearances. She also had roles on ‘Gargoyles’, ‘Futurama’, ‘Heroes’ and ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ just to name a few.
