Every story, every couple in particular, as romance is the heart and soul of most soaps, incites reactions in fans. Some will love a couple, some will hate it.
But, no couple in recent memory has sparked explosive reactions, both good and bad, like ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’s Quiam (Quinn and Liam) has. The pairing of the beautiful, middle-aged, offbeat Quinn Fuller with her now former enemy, the equally lovely, predictably goody-two-shoes, twentysomething, Liam Spencer, has lapsed fans tuning back in with wide-eyed excitement or disgusted fans swearing they are having to take anti-nausea meds as they hit “off” on their remotes. An approving ‘Bold’ fan wrote on Twitter: “I am fascinated by @RenaSofer and @CliftonsNotes chemistry.” While a disgruntled fan wrote on Facebook, “Only a warped mind would love these stories IMO.”

Again, every couple has its proponents and opponents. But why his Quiam either leading people to tune back into B&B or call for the firing of B&B writers?
Fans are tuning back in, because, frankly, couples had gotten a little dull and musical-beds-ish on B&B and needed some revving up. Could anyone have predicted that Quinn would first pretend to be the wife of a memory-less Liam—and then begin to fall for him? B&B head writer, Bradley Bell, has done something soaps thrive on in addition to the coupling mentioned above: innovate and surprise! And he did something that can’t be easy: pairing two characters that viewers already know and have a history with—some might call this genius. And let’s face it: Rena Sofer (Quinn) and Scott Clifton (Liam) are two hotties when alone, but somehow raise each other’s hotness quotient when they are together. And that’s part of chemistry, a necessary component of a soap pairing fans will like.

Then come the B&B viewers who object to Quiam. And, boy, do they object! The emoji spewing chunky vomit has been used as a wordless expression of how many viewers feel about watching Quinn and Liam have sex or be tender in any way. “Depraved,” “disgusting,” “awful,” and, “gross,” have all been used to describe the two and their shenanigans in Quinn’s remote cabin. The age difference has to play a key role in the repulsion some fans feel toward Quinn and Liam. And Rena Sofer’s distinguished, maturely regal and striking looks in contrast to Liam’s baby-faced, innocent, nubile-ness only serve to heighten the feeling that they’re watching something “wrong” in many fans. And, after all, Quinn essentially kidnapped, held hostage, and now lies to Liam over and over again to enable this pairing. Yikes. That never wins fans.
But whether fans love them or hate them, they’re talking about them. And as ABC executive, Nathan Varni, who manages scripted content over at ABC, pointed out in a recent podcast, “What you don’t want is for the conversation to stop.”

Only SICK person can write the Quinn and Liam pairing – in addition to ALL the DISGUST, this is a story of ABUSE of a mentally confused person. In real world people go to jail
I would like to see liam and sheffy ba k together
I have quit watching altogether it us so repulsive. The day they allowed them to actually have sex was my last day.
I Stopped Watching Also 🙁
Sick Sick Sick
I am a STEAM fan and NOTHING else will do for me. While the Quinn/Liam thing is a BIG surprise, it is equally disgusting especially when you add all of Quinn’s lies to Liam and the fact that she continues to put his mental health in danger…totally SICK!!!
I see where you all are coming from. But I guess I’m a fool for hoping something good comes of this. Maybe Quinn will become a good person somehow? Maybe they will address the taking advantage by Quinn of a challenged Liam? I hope so.
