‘The Bold And The Beautiful‘ has been nominated for ‘Outstanding Daytime Drama’ at the 27th Annual GLAAD Media Awards. According to the official GLAAD website, “The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.”
It’s safe to say that ‘B&B‘ has the award in the bag seeing as how they are the only nomination in the daytime drama category. Of course, even if there was any competition for ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ – their trail-blazing storyline starring Karla Mosley as transgender character Maya Avant would have blown the other storylines out of the water.

Over the years, CBS’s other daytime drama ‘The Young And The Restless’ has raised a few eyebrows because of their lack of characters representing the LGBQT community. ‘Days of Our Lives‘ did boast gay super couple Will and Sonny – but killing off the character of Will Horton in 2015 probably didn’t earn them too many points with GLAAD. ‘General Hospital’ does have a handful of gay characters (Lucas, Brad, and Felix) – but they are generally pushed to the back-burner and don’t get a ton of screentime.

There is no doubt that ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ definitely deserves the ‘Outstanding Daytime Drama’ nominee, and Soap Opera Spy would like to congratulate the cast and crew on their amazing work with Maya Avant’s storyline in 2015. The GLAAD Media Awards ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on April 2nd, and an additional awards ceremony will take place in New York on May 14th.
