Soap Opera Weekly Ratings March 5-11: 'Y&R' And 'B&B' Viewership Up – 'GH' And 'DOOL' Continue To Lose Viewers In Women 18-49 DemographicThe soap opera weekly ratings for March 7 through March 11 show “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” have gained back a small portion of the audience the CBS daytime dramas lost the previous week. Unfortunately “General Hospital” and “Days of Our Lives” continue to lose viewers in the women 18 to 49 demographic Soap Opera Network reports.

Days of Our Lives

“DAYS” continues to struggle not only in the women 18 to 49 category, but also in total households tuning in to watch the NBC soap. For the week of March 5-11 the numbers were down by 45,000 viewers, which means 2,294,000 total households were watching the daytime drama. Women 18-49 viewership dropped to 425,000, showing a loss of 30,000 in this demographic over the previous week.

General Hospital

Former First Lady Nancy Reagan’s funeral pre-empted “GH” on Friday, March 11 which may account for the ratings drop. The soap opera lost 40,000 total viewers with 2,898,000 watching. Losses in the women 18 to 49 category show that 9,000 tuned out from the week ending March 4.

The Bold and the Beautiful

Soap Opera Network reports that “B&B” gained back 63,000 of the 244,000 viewers it lost the previous week putting the total viewers at 3,585,000. For the week of February 29 through March 4 the daytime drama reached a new low with women 18-49 after losing 62,000 viewers. The soap bounced back a little bit during the week of March 5 through March 11 by regaining 23,000 viewers in that demographic

The Young and the Restless

The Young and the Restless won back 66,000 of the 270,000 total viewers lost the previous week leaving the soap opera with 4,763,000 people tuned in for the week of March 5-11. However, women 18-49 demographic “Y&R” lost 7,000 viewers. That makes it the second straight week the daytime drama has dropped viewers in that important demographic.

Ratings for the week of March 14-18 may be off for “Y&R” as the daytime drama was pre-empted by March Madness.
