Congratulations are in order for Tika Sumpter (ex, Layla Williamson, One Life to Live), who has welcomed a beautiful baby daughter into the world!
Baby Ella-Loren, born in early October, is the 36-year-old actress’s first child.
She referenced her little one in a tweet captioned, “Dear Mom’s, dad’s and caretakers, I’m slow clapping for each and every one of you. It ain’t no joke.”
It sounds like Tika has quickly learned of the joys, and sleepless nights, that come with being a new mom!
Tika broke the news of her pregnancy this summer, late into her term. She explained to People magazine that she wanted to enjoy her new reality for a while, before sharing her happy news with the world. “She’s my first child, and I wanted to experience every moment of this pregnancy for myself and enjoy it without everybody else being in it with me,” she said.
We certainly can’t blame her; Tika sounds like she knows exactly what’s best for her and her baby!
Tika originated the role of Layla on the now-defunct soap, One Life to Live. She played the feisty Layla from 2005 to 2010. It was her first long-term role, and since then she’s gone on to achieve success in primetime television and film.
The talented actress starred in the recent release, Southside With You. She portrayed First Lady Michelle Obama in the film, and her performance earned rave reviews.
Tika has also been busy on the small screen, with the CBS production, The 313. Can you believe that the multi-talented actress both stars in, and executive-produces the show? You go, girl!
So, soap fans, with motherhood being a new entry on Tika’s resume, do you think that she will slow down her busy schedule or continue to successfully juggle career and motherhood?
Whatever she chooses to do, we wish Tika and Ella-Loren all the best!
