‘Nashville’ Season 5 Spoilers: Focus on Relationships – New Characters Bring Diversity Of Music

‘Nashville’ spoilers for season 5 come from new co-showrunner Marshall Herskovitz, who is extremely pleased that the primetime drama has moved to CMT. Expect there to be more focus on the depth and complexity of the relationships of the characters. Not just Rayna Jaymes [Connie Britton] and Deacon Claybourne [Charles Esten], but the entire cast.

In an exclusive interview with TVLine Marshall Herskovitz revealed that the new characters that have been added to ‘Nashville’ will bring more diversity to the music. And, expect the show to focus more than ever on the entire music industry, not just country music.

Herskovitz, who admitted he enjoys a range of music styles from bluegrass to the old time country, told TVLine, “Nashville is the crossroads of the entire music world.” Bringing in Joseph David-Jones [Clay] as a modern/eclectic musician will add another layer to the country music drama.

Another cast member who will mix things up a bit is Bridgit Mendler [Ashley Wilkenson]. The young singer is a YouTube sensation who arrives in Nashville ready to cut her first album. ‘Nashville’ spoilers for season 5 tease that Ashley will bring a mix of pop and hip-hop to the country music scene.

Previous ‘Nashville’ spoilers for season 5 revealed that Silicon Valley billionaire Zach Welles [Cameron Scoggins], a Rayna Jaymes superfan, will show up in town ready to introduce Rayna’s music to an entirely new audience. Does the billionaire have plans to change Rayna’s sound, perhaps bring in Clay and Ashley to work with the reigning Queen of ‘Nashville’?

‘Nashville’ joins the CMT family with a 2-hour premiere Thursday, January 5. Get ready, the fifth season of ‘Nashville’ will be its best ever as Charles Esten has promised.
