Lifetime Cancels Devious Maids After Season 4 Finale – No Season 5 Next Summer!

Lifetime has officially canceled Devious Maids.  The soapy primetime drama just wrapped Season 4, however there will not be a Season 5 in 2017.  Per the usual, the Season 4 finale ended with a cliffhanger, and it looks like we will never find out what happened to Marisol in her wedding day.

Devious Maids fans will recall that the Season 4 finale ended with a time jump – a year later – the maids were gathered at Marisol and Peter’s wedding, and someone abducted the bride moments before she was supposed to walk down the aisle.

It seems like the decision to cancel Devious Maids was a bit unexpected, the showrunner Marc Cherry just gave an interview about the Season 4 finale cliffhanger, and he seemed to imply that fans would find out what happened to Marisol next summer.  Cherry dished to TV Line, “We have many thoughts of what it all means, it will be a completely new story. (Sadly, that story was not to be.)”

The Latina centered cast, starring Ana Ortiz, Judy Reyes, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, plus  All My Children alum Susan Lucci was a breath of fresh air for summer TV, and something we always look forward to.  We are certainly sad to see the show go.  There really hasn’t been much of an explanation as to why the show was canceled, other than their ratings dropping – interestingly enough, Devious Maids’ ratings were still better than the popular drama UnReal, which was in the timeslot following Devious Maids this summer.

So Lifetime fans, are you as shocked and sad as we are by the news of Devious Maids’ cancellation?  Let us know what you think in the comments below!
