If you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life! General Hospital’s (GH) Roger Howarth (Franco Baldwin) epitomizes that statement. Howarth loves acting, and the good news for his fans is that he never intends to stop!
In a recent interview with Soaps in Depth, Howarth waxed poetic about his love for acting, both on the small screen and on Broadway.
GH fans might not realize it, but Howarth commutes from New York to L.A. for his current gig. It’s apparent that New York, and its theater scene, is something that he cares about deeply. Howarth has experience as a Broadway actor so with his proximity to the Great White Way, don’t be surprised if he lands a side gig sometime in the future.
According to Howarth, he misses long theater rehearsals, the live audience and having to get lines right the first time. “It’s exciting,” he told the magazine, “And I’d love to do it again…”
Howarth would also welcome a return to primetime, where he starred as Mason Briggs on The Flash. Not to worry though GH fans, Howarth has no intention of ditching his role as reformed psycho Franco.
While he admits that acting outside of General Hospital is an option, he also appreciates his day job, “I love doing other stuff…I love the job I currently have, but I’m going to try to…work for the rest of my life.”
What would GH be without Franco? The once deranged artist seems to be genuine about turning his life around. It’s hard not to root for him, just as Nurse Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) is!
If only Franco could relax, and let his romance blossom naturally! Instead, he’s a jealous wreck and that could spell doom for his desire to be with Liz and her kids. Let’s hope that Franco learns to do the right thing with Liz just as he has in the rest of his life!

I do find it really impressive that Roger is able to commute back and forth between NY and LA. That sounds ridiculously hard to do. Also, I would love to see him do another arc on a prime time show just as long as it doesn’t conflict with GH.
Agree it sounds difficult to go back and forth but I guess he wants to keep his family grounded in NYC and away from LA craziness!
