Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin) and Dillon Quartermaine (Robert Palmer Watkins) were both reeling from thwarted love affairs with Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig) and Lulu Spencer-Falconari (Emme Rylan) respectively. The two formally met at General Hospital, when Kiki who having been accidently shot in a drug sting operation overseen by Dillon’s father D.A. Paul Hornsby (Richard Burgi) was being discharged.
The chemistry was immediately apparent and palpable as the two recognized each other from around town. Dillon quickly apologized to Kiki for her injury due to the botched sting run by his dad. Kiki assured the young Quartermaine scion that he was not responsible for his father’s actions.
They next ran into each other when Dillon helped his intoxicated boss, Crimson magazine publisher Nina Reeves (Michelle Stafford) home to the apartment she shared with her then boyfriend Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) and Kiki. Kiki who along with Franco was mislead by her mother the notorious Ava Jerome (Maura West) that Franco was her father. When the truth was revealed that Dr. Silas Clay (Michael Easton) was her father instead, the bond forged between Franco and Kiki remained. After Dillon refuses an awkward drunken come on by Nina, he and Kiki share a laugh and further bond. The young Quartermaine is obviously smitten.
A few days later Dillon after letting the air out of his own tire coaxes Kiki to accompany him down to his car, to help change the tire.
They grow closer, as Dillon discovers that Kiki is suffering from PTSD due to her having been shot. They agree to go for ice cream and enjoy a delightful afternoon. Dillon is instrumental in Kiki coming to terms with her shooting and successfully overcoming her PTSD.
After several more encounters the two are convinced by Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) to perform together at the General Hospital annual nurses ball. They are a hit and the two share a first kiss.
After a second kiss they agree to go on an official date. The night of the date Kiki comes down with a bad head cold. The chivalrous Dillon offers to go to the local pharmacy for cold meds. While he is gone Morgan shows up at Kiki’s door. Just released from the Freemont Clinic, where he had been undergoing treatment for his bi-polar disorder, Morgan successfully begs Kiki for another chance at love.
A devastated Dillon tries unsuccessfully to convince Kiki that resuming a relationship with Morgan is toxic for them both. However even though the bond between them is as strong as ever, Kiki tells Dillon they can only be friends.
Meanwhile Ava has her own agenda where Morgan and Kiki are concerned; having bedded Morgan while her daughter and the young Corinthos were dating the first time around. Ava gets wind of the burgeoning feelings between Kiki and Dillon and decides he is best for her daughter. After an attempt to team up with Dillon to break up Morgan and Kiki is rebuffed by the young Quartemaine, Ava takes matters into her own hands. Ava switches Morgan’s bi-polar meds with useless placebo pills. This causes havoc with Morgan’s recovery and relationships as he becomes increasingly unstable and out of control.
Kiki begins to doubt any future she may have with Morgan, as he becomes more and more manic. Her barely suppressed feelings for Dillon begin to spill forth and before long she realizes that Dillon is not only whom she wants but also whom she loves.
This leads to a confession to Dillon and a promise of love. A shocked and pleased Dillon can barely contain himself as he waits for Kiki to inform Morgan of her decision.
Unfortunately at this time, a raging and out of control Morgan steals Julian Jerome’s (William DeVry) car planning to leave Port Charles for good. He is followed by Jason Morgan (Billy Miller) and convinced by cell phone to pull over and talk it out. As Morgan opens the door to face Jason, the car explodes.
How will this affect the promise made by Kiki to Dillon? Is Morgan injured, dead? Will misguided guilt come between the two young lovers? What happens if it is discovered that Ava is culpable in Morgan’s manic episode? Is Morgan’s own father crime boss Sonny Corinthos responsible for the explosion, in a botched attempt to take out rival crime boss Julian?
This story and coupling has all the makings of soap opera at it’s best. What do you think? Do Kiki and Dillon have the goods to become a legendary Port Charles duo?
