‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Ava Jerome Remorseful Over Morgan’s Med Tampering, But Irreversible And Deadly Damage Already Done

General Hospital diva Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) rap sheet stretches longer than her scary black eyelashes. The Port Charles mobstress is adept at murder, blackmail, adultery and medication tampering. She’s run a gambling ring, run away from prison, and sometimes runs an art gallery.

All of which begs the question: is this GH character past the point of no return or can she be redeemed?

Soaps are populated with baddies that strain viewer credulity. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) lives to break the law and torment his enemies on The Young and the Restless. Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer) is a maniacal deviant on The Bold and the Beautiful. Of course, this kind of crazy-good badness is exactly why we tune in! 

But hey, both characters love their families, use that as an excuse for their bad behavior, and always end up out of prison and back in their family’s bosoms. Ditto for Ava Jerome.

Her latest crimes and misdemeanors were committed out of love for her family. She disapproves of her daughter’s boyfriend and replaced his prescription pills with placebos, hoping his behavior deteriorates and her daughter dumps him (which may be a moot point after that nasty car crash!).

Ava also turned a blind eye to murder in order broker a deal that got her brother out of jail. What are sisters for, right?

To her credit, Ava loves her family. But is that enough to forgive her over-the-top illegalities?

Actually, Ava is paying for her crimes: she lost custody of her infant daughter, and she’s shown remorse for her pill-tampering. Her mental turmoil expunges some of her wrong-doing, no?

Ava is redeemable as long as she continues to care more about her family’s well-being than her own.

Plus, it’s hard to imagine Port Charles without its lethal femme fatale. Ava is the perfect high-heeled counterpoint to male mobster Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard)!
