‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: 2016 Preview – Legacy Characters Take Center Stage In Port Charles

‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers for 2016 indicate that legacy characters will be strong and will continue to be a force to be reckoned with – including Anna, Laura, Carly, Sonny and other fan favorites that have been around for years and deserve more screen time.

Sonny Corinthos [Maurice Benard] and Carly Corinthos [Laura Wright] will find that their fifth round of marriage is not as drama-free as they had hoped. Sonny will be stuck in that wheelchair until something momentous changes his prognosis.

Their son Morgan Corinthos [Bryan Craig] will continue to struggle with his bipolar which will tug at their marriage as Sonny’s guilt over passing the condition down festers and Carly has to deal with her husband and son both dealing with mental disorders.

Sonny will also get much more aggressive in the Port Charles mob scene, despite his physical limitations and that will create a lot of issues for the family. Plus, Jason Morgan’s [Billy Miller] refusal to step back into the Corinthos cartel will frustrate both Carly and Sonny.

Anna Devane [Finola Hughes] will have more face time with Mac Scorpio [John J York] as they continue to dig into the dirty doings of Paul Hornsby [Richard Burgi]. Anna will also work with Sam Morgan [Kelly Monaco] in a PI type business which will keep her active and tied into Port Charles.

With Anna’s family leaving town soon – Patrick Drake [Jason Thompson], Robin Scorpio [Kimberly McCullough] and Emma Drake [Brooklyn Rae Silzer] – she’ll have time to focus on taking down Paul and finding love.

Conflicting GH spoilers indicate that Emma may come back to town to live with Anna which would put her in a single mum role while others indicate Emma will stay off the canvas with her parents. Either way, Anna won’t escape family drama for long.

Tracy Quartermaine [Jane Elliot] will have an increased storyline in 2016 as well. She’s going to take a breather from Port Charles after her loss of faith with Paul but will come back more dedicated than ever to restoring ELQ to the Quartermaines.

This will put Tracy front and center in a battle with Nikolas Cassadine [Tyler Christopher] and Laura Spencer [Genie Francis] will be part of that story as well. But is Laura fighting for or against her dark Cassadine son?

Michael Quartermaine [Chad Duell] will team up with his Great Aunt Tracy to take on Nikolas and Jason will spent into the fray to fight alongside the Qs as well. Laura is another legacy character rumored to enjoy romance in the New Year – better her than Tracy since the Q matriarch cannot seem to find a decent man to save her life.

Other legacy characters that will be back in 2016 for more screen time include:

• Monica Quartermaine [Leslie Charleson] who will have time to bond with her son Jason and serve as a comfort to Michael plus a beefed up role at the hospital
• Bobbie Spencer [Jacklyn Zeman] who will be a source of comfort and surrogate mom to Valerie Spencer [Brytni Sarpi] who will need her desperately in coming weeks
• Felicia Scorpio [Kristina Wagner] will work with her hubby Mac as he helps Anna in her pursuit of justice – will she finally get her mayorship back?

Now that the Jason reveal is finally done, it looks like headwriters Jean Passanante and Shelly Altman are picking up the pace and we’ve got tons of storyline action to anticipate in 2016 with the legacy characters and the rest of the ensemble.
