While the excitement surrounding the Daytime Emmy Awards continues, this week we saw some very touching moments on ABC’s ‘General Hospital‘. We saw the stars unravel their raw talent as they endured the storylines that they were given. Some of the cast members we think deserve some acknowledgement include:
Lexi Ainsworth as Kristina Corinthos
It’s another good week for Lexi Ainsworth. Her character Kristina is still fearful of her parents finding out about her sexuality. What was touching and really worth recognition though, was the confrontation between her and Professor Parker (Ashley Jones). Lexi brought us to tears watching her play this student filled with a range of emotions, torn between loving her Professor and not being able to have a romantic relationship with her. We cried at every line Lexi spoke, these scenes are certainly Emmy worthy.
Finola Hughes as Anna DeVane
When you’re good, you’re good – but Finola Hughes is darn good. It’s been a year since Duke’s (Ian Buchanan) death and we are still seeing how Anna is inflicted with pain to the core. Anna met with Duke’s son Griffin (Matt Cohen). Their sit down brought Anna to tears as she discussed her last moments spent with Duke before he met his ugly demise. Hughes just received a Daytime Emmy Nomination, but with these scenes it looks like she is heading for another one next year.
Tyler Christopher as Nikolas Cassadine
What a week it has been for Tyler Christopher’s Nikolas. Although he claimed he trusted his wife Hayden (Rebecca Budig) and withdrew the investigation he hired Sam (Kelly Monaco) to do, we’re now seeing he can’t trust her. Christopher delivered some touching scenes in a confrontation with his wife about papers she had Diane (Carolyn Hennesy) draw up to get control of ELQ without his knowledge. At first Nikolas felt betrayed, but as Hayden explained herself he seemed to have a change of heart. Later Nikolas turned the tables on his wife by not changing his will as promised and not signing the papers for ELQ. Nikolas obviously doesn’t trust Hayden one bit, Christopher’s display of emotions is worth acknowledging.
Jane Elliott as Tracy Quartermaine
A true stalwart in the genre, after years of continued A+ acting, Jane Elliott shows us why she is daytime’s best. It’s rare for persons to have insect infections in the brain. This is a classic storyline indeed and with a classic actress involved in it, we are continually intrigued. Elliott did an excellent job, playing somewhat an amnesiac patient, mistaking Dillon (Robert Palmer Watkins) for her other son Ned (Wally Kurth). Tracy wants to get better no matter the means. And since infectious disease specialist Dr. Finn (Michael Easton) showed up, Tracy demands his care. Elliott throughout this entire week gave Emmy Worthy performances.
Other notable performances came from Michelle Stafford as Nina and Rebecca Budig as Hayden. So GH fans, who do you think should be named the performer of the week? Vote below.
