Sean Blakemore is undoubtedly missed on ‘General Hospital’. He recently took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor at the 2016 Daytime Emmy Awards and has since been working hard outside of GH. While we miss him so much as Sonny’s [Maurice Benard] right hand man, Shawn Butler, Blakemore has been very busy since his last ‘GH’ appearance. Since he left the show he has tapped a number of recurring roles on a few primetime serials.
Firstly let’s talk about Blakemore‘s role as James Hamilton on ‘Devious Maids’. His first episode will air on July 4 in which he plays a reverend.

Blakemore in the latest issue of Soaps in Depth magazine describes the role saying “He’s very genuine about his beliefs, but he can also be loose, wild and energetic.” Devious Maids is a very comedic show and rather entertaining, we can’t wait to see Blakemore’s episodes.
Then he also booked a role in the BET pilot serial ‘The Yard’. In this new series, he plays the head coach of a football team at black College. Of this role, he says that “It’s about the experience of the executive staff, the coaches and the students.” The Yard is currently in production with no official air date set.

Apart from those mentioned, Blakemore is waiting to see if he will return to the recurring role of Captain John Felton on ‘Bosch’, the Amazon series. Blakemore dished that the creator of the show loved his work and they bonded well, so it seems they will be discussing a return soon.
Blakemore also reflects on his time on General Hospital. He had quite a good time there and enjoyed working with his co-stars Vinessa Antoine [Jordan] and Tequan Richmond [TJ]. Stay tuned for more updates on Blakemore’s work as it comes.
