‘General Hospital’ alum Sean Blakemore seems to be quite busy outside the soap opera world. With the recent news of him joining the cast of ‘Devious Maids,’ now comes word that he has joined an upcoming BET drama called ‘The Yard.’
Daytime Confidential is reporting that Blakemore has been tapped to be a part of the all-star cast for the upcoming pilot. ‘The Yard’ is creatively produced by Felicia D. Henderson, whose producer credit includes shows such as; Moesha, Soul Food: The Series, Gossip Girl, Every Hates Chris, Sister Sister and Fringe.
It looks like Sean Blakemore will be joined by a pretty impressive cast on ‘The Yard.‘ Anika Noni Rose takes the lead for the upcoming drama in which she plays the role of Dr. Eva Fletcher. Her character is said to be on the verge of bankruptcy, though she is the first female president of Georgia A&M University. Jazz Raycole, Peyton Alex Smith, Jasmine Guy and Reuben Santiago-Hudson are also a part of the cast with Rob Hardy holding the director credits.
Blakemore recently made a return to GH. In the scenes, Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Jason (Billy Miller) visited him in prison in search of answers, the couple was investigating who could have possibly shot Hayden (Rebecca Budig). Viewers are aware that Shawn is in prison serving time for a crime he did not commit. The awareness of his innocence has aroused speculation he could be returning full time very soon. With him becoming quite so busy, being tapped for several primetime roles, it looks like we won’t see him make a return to ‘General Hospital’ as Sonny’s hit man Shawn Butler anytime soon.
