‘General Hospital’ News: Roger Howarth’s Contract Renewed at GH! Franco Here to Stay

'General Hospital' News: Roger Howarth's Contract Renewed at GH! Franco Here to Stay‘General Hospital’ (GH) news reveals that Franco portrayer Roger Howarth was, in fact, in contract negotiations despite GH showrunner denial that Howarth was on the bubble. But it’s good news for Franco fans because the reformed serial killer is sticking around Port Charles.

This is big because there are several plot lines right now where Franco is critical. Franco has a romance brewing with Liz Webber [Rebecca Herbst] and his art therapy sessions are critical to the recovering mental health of Jake Webber [Hudson West].

Franco also has more story to play with his rival and former (and possibly current) nemesis Jason Morgan [Billy Miller] and the hit man’s gal pal Sam Morgan [Kelly Monaco]. It would have been a real shame to lose Franco, particularly when his plot line is about to get great.

Admittedly, Franco’s pairing with Nina Clay [Michelle Stafford] wasn’t the ratings draw that GH showrunners hoped for, but his new romance with Liz is ratings gold and to see that cut short would have been a total bummer for GH fans.

There’s still some tension, though, as Tyler Christopher is rumored to be in contract talks now, too. Let’s hope that works out soon so we can have Tyler back but, as of now, Nick Stabile is stepping into the role of Nikolas soon.

There’s also the Kirsten Storms recast of the role of Maxie Jones due to medical reasons – ‘Days of Our Lives’ vet Molly Burnett (ex-Theresa Donovan) will sub in for Storms for a few weeks. The bottom line is that the character canvas in Port Charles is going to look very different in coming days.

We’re just thankful that Roger Howarth will be sticking around and we have lots more Franco drama to come! Share your comments below on this GH contract renewal news and check back with Soap Opera Spy often for more ‘General Hospital’ spoilers and news.
