‘General Hospital’ News: Rebecca Herbst Confirms She Is Staying At ‘GH’ – Finally Breaks Silence On Contract Drama

Earlier today ‘General Hospital’ spoilers teased that Rebecca Herbst’s contract negotiations were finally complete, and now the soap actress is officially confirming that she will not be exiting the ABC soap opera and Liz Webber will be staying in Port Charles.  Rebecca sat down with TV Insider’s Michael Logan to set the record straight about her near exit, considering joining other soaps, and how she felt about the Jason Morgan storyline.

When rumors first broke that Rebecca Herbst was possibly leaving ‘General Hospital’ – word on the internet was that ‘Days Of Our Lives’ was trying to steal the talented actress.  Herbst confirmed that she had been approached by more than one soap opera when her fate at ‘GH‘ was up in the air.  It’s probably safe to assume that the other soap aside from ‘DOOL‘ was ‘Y&R’ – seeing as how several of her former co-workers are already in Genoa City.

When Logan questioned Rebecca about why she was unhappy with her contracts, the actress was pretty vague – and explained that she wasn’t supposed to discuss it.  Herbst stated, “I can’t talk about the specifics, but I kind of equate it to this: When you work together with a company for this long of a period you become a family, and from that you fight like family. And we did fight!”

Rebecca did reveal that contrary to popular belief – her issues with the show had nothing to do with her controversial on-screen relationship with Jason Morgan. Rumor had it that Rebecca wasn’t happy with Liz’s storylines – but it turns out it was quite the opposite.  She explained to TV Insider, “I go in and do what’s on the page and then I go home. I don’t believe it’s my place to dictate storyline. People were saying that I was upset about the Jake/Jason story when, in fact, I embraced it. It ended up being a lot of fun.”

So ‘GH‘ fans, there you have it – Liz Webber is not going anywhere!  And, just for the record – she actually enjoyed her messy love triangle with Jason (Billy Miller) and Sam (Kelly Monaco).  Are you as thrilled as we are by this exciting news?  Let us know what you think in the comments below!
