I was very tempted to turn this into my LEAST favorite performer of the week, only because it all felt like a lot of rehashing. I’m getting rather tired of seeing/hearing the same old stuff week after week, simply because there’s not a lot of progress when that happens. Still, there are a couple of performances that caught and held my attention.
Nancy Lee Grahn… Alexis, Alexis, Alexis. How absolutely out of touch do you have to be to refuse to leave those dots you FINALLY connected, permanently connected? Just, OMG! She figured it out in true detective fashion, and that look on her face when the realization of it all slammed into her was priceless. But sexy Jules denied the accusations, and weak-in-the-knees-Lexi caved and the apparent great sex that followed wiped that slate clean… or did it?
Alexis is seriously struggling with what she KNOWS and what she’s being told, and the weight of it is bound to crush her sooner than later. If anyone is listening, I vote sooner! It’s fun to watch her playing the hell out of these scenes but the premise has passed its expiration date. It’s time for the aftermath storyline. How will Alexis fare in a world where the man she has blindly and faithfully trusted betrayed her so completely? She’s heard it from everyone. She pushed down her own suspicions. Even when she finally gave voice to those suspicions, she found her way around them long enough to have teary sex with him. I want to see what kind of Alexis emerges from the ashes of this mess.
A mini shout-out to Kathleen Gati. It’s rather awesome that even though Obrecht has been demoted, she has not for one second allowed herself to be humbled by her circumstances. She had her teary moment on Nathan’s shoulder when word came down that she was no longer Chief of Staff, but back in the hallowed halls of GH, she still conducts herself as though she is! Obrecht needs a friend, or a love interest that isn’t Franco. She needs someone that takes her out of the hospital and out of that “storm trooper” role once in awhile. Gati is an amazing talent and it would be wonderful to see more facets to the Obrecht character. How funny was she with Faison?! Those two were priceless! Her and Franco? Same. But these are just glimpses into a side of her that we know exists. It would be wonderful to see that side a lot more often!
Until next week!
