‘General Hospital’ News: Performer Of The Week – Bryan Craig

It was a slowish week at GH. Too many storylines going at once and too many instances where I had to think back to why I was seeing certain scenes at all. Case in point; Nathan and Claudette. That’s been going on – in 30 second increments it seems – for the better part of my adult life! Lucas and Brad, who is now magically divorced from Rosalie, a woman he once could NEVER divorce, finally set a date. I’m thrilled…

Fun stuff this week: Ned came back! Emma came back! Jason made a funny in Tracy’s room; “so, worms huh?” and later, in his newly decorated cinderblock hut, he accidentally smiled! Not a typically Jason smirky grin, but a genuine face-cracking-showing-molars smile!

But that’s not why we’re here. So, who didn’t love the Kiki/Morgan reunion? Watching him struggle through the visit with Joss and Avery, knowing he wanted to FEEL the moments was tough. He adores Avery, but It took Kiki shuffling through the door for him to have a moment of genuine FEELING. Bryan Craig is amazing in this storyline.

Whether he’s all out there, maniacally speed-talking while bouncing off the scenery, or sitting quietly looking numb and empty, he delivers each moment in a strong, believable way. Morgan is a monumental screw-up but Bryan makes us feel for him. We want him to get better and find some balance. We want to see what happens to him when the extremes have been taken out of his personality. We hope he’ll still be edgy and a little unpredictable.

Craig could have a very long run on this show – assuming the show survives another 53 years – as Sonny’s eventual replacement. Sonny keeps saying “no kid of mine…” but I can see it.

A shout out to the great outdoors! It was nice to see things happen outside of the studio sets for a change! GH needs to take things outside more often. It’s just sitting there. Why not use it?
